Orioles News · Osseo Varsity Boys Soccer lose 1-2 in nail biter against Mounds View

From Coach Pat:

I first want to express that anyone who got the chance to witness that game last night got to witness what playing with your heart actually means. It was going to take sure will power and grit to win this game and every kid that stepped in that game showed just that.

Osseo boys played with so much passion and heart that we simply cannot be disappointed in how we played, especially in the second half. First half we came out timid which resulted in us being down 2-0 at half. Second momentum changed drastically as Dariys Kwitee notched his 7th goal of the season after a great through ball from Prince Massaquoi who recorded his 7th assist this season. Osseo did not let up as we continuously kept knocking on their door to get that tying goal with several great chances but just being able to convert anything into that goal Osseo desperately needed.

The game ended with a score of 2-1 to Mounds View. A result that even they would say was lucky for them. But none the less the heart and desire these Osseo boys expressed on that field last night was unparamount and quite honestly something I haven’t seen in awhile, especially at the high school level.

I cannot express enough that last night does not define our season, surely we wanted to win but what these boys achieved this year (including all levels) proves that we as a program are definitely stepping in the right direction and will continue to make a statement in our conference and section!

Thank you to all of the seniors who helped lay that foundation for this program! Without your hard work, passion, and love for this program we would of not taken the steps we needed to be where we are today. For all the up and coming kids let this be a lesson learned that sometimes the season does not end up in a fairy tale ending and does come and go very quickly. We as a program must strive to continuously get better each and everyday.

Now that the season is done it is a perfect time to hone in on your skills and truly get better every single day. Find a club team who plays year round or dedicate majority of your time to touching a ball every single day.
